The stereochemical arrangement of substituent groups along a polymer chain.
Tacticity describes whether side groups are arranged isotactically, syndiotactically, or atactically. It can strongly influence crystallinity, melting temperature, solubility, stiffness, and commercial usefulness of polymers such as polypropylene.
