A pressure-driven membrane process that removes salts and small solutes.
Reverse osmosis applies pressure greater than osmotic pressure to force solvent through a selective membrane. It is used in desalination, ultrapure water production, wastewater reuse, and concentration of heat-sensitive solutions.
