Molecular enzyme complex that synthesizes ATP from ADP and phosphate.
ATP synthase uses proton flow down an electrochemical gradient to drive phosphorylation of ADP. It is located in the inner mitochondrial membrane in eukaryotes. The enzyme links chemiosmosis to cellular energy production.
